================
The format of all VIRTIS data are described in detail by the EAICD
document located in the /DOCUMENT directory. VIRTIS team strongly
recommends reading this documentation before using the data.
Data Set history
================
This data set is version V2.0. The changes from the V1.0 enclose the
closure of the liens from the 2017 review:
- updates of documents such as EAICD, M and H calibration.
- updates of AAREADME, ERRATA and DATASET.CAT
- Updates of the data as the team found a bug in the calibration
pipeline.
Data Set Overview
=================
This data set contains cal data acquired by the Rosetta
Orbiter VIRTIS spectrometer during the PRELANDING MTP004 of the
Rosetta mission.
Processing
==========
The data in this data set are cal, CODMAC Level 3 data. Only the
calibration algorithm has been applied to the data.
Data
====
The data are in PDS format. A detailed description of
the data format is given in the VIRTIS EAICD
document located in the DOCUMENT directory of this data set.
Ancillary Data
==============
No ancillary data included in this data set.
Coordinate System
=================
The geometry items SC_SUN_POSITION_VECTOR,
SC_TARGET_POSITION_VECTOR and SC_TARGET_VELOCITY_VECTOR
provided in the label of the data product are relative to the
Earth Mean Equator frame of J2000.
SUB_SPACECRAFT_LATITUDE, SUB_SPACECRAFT_LONGITUDE are
given in the PLANETOCENTRIC coordinate system. These parameters
are corrected by planetary and stellar aberrations.
Distances are given in km, angles in degrees.
Software
========
The data can be accessed with the software IDL routines
provided and documented in the EXTRAS directory.

This release contains the calibrated
data of the VIRTIS instrument on board of the spacecraft Rosetta. This
volume contains data from the PRELANDING MTP009 phase,
which occurred from 2014-10-24 to 2014-11-22 when at the vicinity
of comet 67P.
This data set V2.0 supersedes V1.0. It includes major updates on the
data and documentation.
