DATA_SET_DESCRIPTION Data Set Overview : The data included in this data set cover the following periods and activities: (All are in 2004, so Year is omitted from dates.) Start Time Stop Time Activity (mm-dd/hh:mm) (mm-dd/hh:mm) 03-30/22:37 03-31/03:28 Instrument Checkout 03-31/12:35 04-03/12:49 Venus spiral scans to map boresight 04-23/03:31 04-24/15:20 Earth spiral scans to map boresight 04-30/04:00 04-30/16:30 Observation of Comet Linear 05-17/03:45 05-17/16:15 Observation of Comet Linear 09-11/03:35 09-11/06:05 Pointing-1 Scenario (staring at Pleiades) 09-20/13:20 09-22/02:00 Interference-1 scenario 09-24/06:34 09-24/09:05 Observation of Venus (Pointing-2 Scenario) 09-24/12:00 09-24/14:30 Observation of Vega (Pointing-2 Scenario) 09-24/19:30 09-25/01:40 Instrument Checkout (Pointing-2 Scenario) 09-25/03:00 09-25/14:45 Observation of Earth (Pointing-2 Scenario) 09-28/03:30 09-28/06:18 Observation of Area 98 (Pointing-2 Scenario) 09-28/06:18 09-28/09:00 Observation of M42 (Pointing-2 Scenario) 10-12/20:00 10-13/13:15 Interference-2 scenario Only the spiral scans and the observations of Comet Linear had any scientific value and were analyzed by the MIRO team. The Venus spiral scans contained three sets of scans, in the interval 13:40 - 19:00 of 03-31, 04-01 and 04-02 UTC. During this period two failures of the MIRO instrument occurred, on 04.01, at 15:07 and 20:20 UTC. The second caused the instrument to Safe itself, but it recovered in time for the third scan. The failures were determined to have been due to an error in a command procedure. This was fixed and the error has not occurred since. Modification History : Version 1.1 (Oct. 2010): - Added UTC to all data files, revised *.FMT files and other documentation accordingly. - Added GEOMETRY directory. - Minor corrections and additions. - Added LOG file to DOCUMENT directory. Author List : The author list in the CITATION_DESC includes only those persons who worked on preparing this archive dataset for delivery. The full list of all persons involved in the MIRO experiment is (taken from the GULKISETAL2007 reference): S. Gulkis, Frerking, M., Crovisier, J., Beaudin, G., Hartogh, P., Encrenaz, P., Koch, T., Kahn, C., Salinas, Y., Nowicki, R., Irigoyen, R., Janssen, M., Stek, P., Hofstadter, M., Allen, M., Backus, C., Kamp, L., Jarchow, C., Steinmetz, E., Deschamps, A., Krieg, J., Gheudin, M., Bockelee-Morvan, D., Biver, N., Encrenaz, T., Despois, D., Ip, W., Lellouch, E., Mann, I., Muhleman, D., Rauer, H., Schloerb, P., and Spilker, T. Geometry Information : The MIRO data file labels contain vectors specifying the position of the Sun and Target body relative to the spacecraft and the velocity of the Target body relative to the spacecraft. The value s of the keywords SC_SUN_POSITION_VECTOR, SC_TARGET_POSITION_VECTOR and SC_TARGET_VELOCITY_VECTOR are related to the ECLIPJ2000 reference frame. The values of SUB_SPACECRAFT_LATITUDE and SUB_SPACECRAFT_LONGITUDE are northern latitude and eastern longitude in the standard planetocentric IAU frame. All values are computed for the the midpoint of the observations. Distances are given in , velocities in , angles in . This information was obtained using the following NAIF/SPICE kernel files: ORHR_______________00028.BSP C2002T7.bsp de405s.bsp For the Venus and Earth spiral scans, more geometry information is given in the GEOMETRY directory of this archive. For the other periods, the information in the label is sufficient, as the targets were distant and essentially constant in relative position during the sequences.

CITATION_DESCRIPTION Gulkis, S., Backus, C.R., Janssen, M.A., Kamp, L.W. et al., ROSETTA MIRO INSTRUMENT CALIBRATED DATA FOR THE COMMISSIONING PHASE, RO-X-MIRO-3-CVP-COMMISSIONING-V1.1, ESA PLANETARY SCIENCE ARCHIVE AND NASA PLANETARY DATA SYSTEM, 2010
ABSTRACT_TEXT This data set contains Spectroscopic and Continuum data, in the form of table files, taken during the Commissioning phase of the Rosetta mission by the MIRO instrument. These data have been calibrated to antenna temperatures. Version 1.1 added UTC to the data files, added a GEOMETRY directory and incorporated a number of minor documentation additions and corrections.
