The purpose of this section is to provide a description of a NASAView release including any impact that the new or modified capabilities will have on the Discipline Nodes or the PDS user community. A somewhat itemized list of changes for each release can be found on the
Release Changes
page.
This is a maintenance release of NASAView, which includes a more detailed user guide and bug fixes in response to the beta testing performed in the previous release of the tool.
The major fixes for this release are:

Providing multi-banded, JPEG-2000 image support.

Fixing a program crash when attempting to save an image as a JPEG.
This release of the NASAView represents the beta release for JPEG-2000 and improved Mac OS X support.

Support for JPEG-2000 in accordance with SCR-3-1003
NASAView now supports the display of PDS labeled JPEG-2000 images. This capability was aided by the integration of the
Kakadu JPEG2000 Software Developer Kit
.

Support for Mac OS X 10.3.9 and above
Several enhancements were made to NASAView to better function on the Mac OS X platform. There are still some limitations with the XVT Portability Toolkit
™
for the Mac, which causes limitations on image sizes. This is detailed in the liens section below.

Miscellaneous Bug Fixes
Also includes support for CONTAINER objects with long names, better messages when format files cannot be found, better display of 32-bit multi-banded images and display MOC image for "Full Label" menu selection.

Mac OS X Image Size Restriction
Image sizes will be restricted to about 2000 x 2000. To view the rest of an image greater than this size, use the
Large Image Selection
menu item. See the Tool Execution portion of the
Use and Operation
section for a detailed description on this menu item selection.

Mac OS X Help Menu
Selecting items from the Help menu causes undefined behavior. We suggest that user just stay from that menu until we can address these issues.
